This work consists of two movements:

"Andante tranquillo".
It is mainly characterized by the melodic element, intensely expressive, lyrical and with a certain nostalgic air. The clarinetist has the opportunity to display his interpretative and expressive resources and must at all times control the air column and the sonority in the different registers of the instrument through the musical discourse. The clarinet is constantly supported by an interesting piano accompaniment.

"Allegro".
It follows the sonata-like scheme. The A or main theme has a cheerful, fresh and determined character. It allows the instrumentalist to show his musical and technical qualities as well as his agility in the staccato and in all the different articulations that appear.

The piano, in the form of a solo and as a reminder, concludes the main theme and makes the transition to theme B, written in the key of D minor. A few transitional measures and some interesting major 7th chords in the piano part lead to a dominant 7/9 chord, from which, as a development, a tarantella in 6/8 time begins. Here the clarinet once again displays the staccato technique and flexibility in the different and varied articulations.

A few bars that develop musical cells in the form of arpeggios in the mid-bass and mid-sharp regions of the piano lead us to the re-exposition in the key of F major, which develops without any other particularity until we reach the coda, which gives way again to the tarantella form that we have heard in the development. In this coda the clarinet plays a decisive role in terms of spectacularity, exposing the thematic cells that have appeared in the development in the form of arpeggios in the key of F major until reaching F5 (G5 for the clarinet in Bb), so that the clarinetist will have the opportunity to demonstrate his technical and interpretative mastery in all registers of the instrument.
