This volume of Piezas características includes works from different periods and origins.
On the one hand, the two oldest surviving compositions of Narcisa Freixas, of a lounge pianism: Non-non, which, despite the title, is not a lullaby and was published in La bordadora magazine, 25 February 1879, when she was still 19 years old, and the solemn march Corpus, a piece that played the Municipal Band of Barcelona in this festivity and of which a piano version has been preserved, published in the Album of Musical Illustration n . 57, of May 30, 1890 and signed with his name in reverse: Asicran Saxierf. On the other hand, the scores are published in Obres de Narcisa Freixas, Edició d'homenatge of 1928, under the heading of Music and Sardanes.
These can be separated into different styles: thus within the influence of romantic music we find the Vals Lents lent and the minuet entitled Elegia and within the popular style characteristic of the composer, Tornavila, the three Sardanes and four Muñeiras. A separate work we believe is the Cants Nòmads.
In addition, although with a folkloric flautín and tamboril air, we find the small piece Dansa, that the son of the composer, Josep Ma. Petit i Freixas published as part of the book Los pequeños caballeros del Dragón or El sueño de un soldado de plomo in 1939. This work is not included in the compilation of the aforementioned homage and we think that it could be part of the Dotze recreations for piano that remain unpublished and disappeared today.
For the review of the three Sardanas I have been able to consult the particellas of the copla version that can be found in the archive of the Folkloric Cultural Group Barcelona as well as that of the Centennial Cobla Orchestra of Lluis de Taradell, which date back to 1920 and 1921, Although we know from references in the press of the time that they were previously written: "The orchestra informed us of two compositions by Mrs. Narcisa Freixas, [...] they are entitled" Decandiment "and" Flors de la terra", being superior to that one ». El Heredero, no. 31, of June 2, 1914.
