The work was written at the request of the clarinettist Josep Fuster and the percussionist Gratiniano Múrcia, the performers who premiered it. Its title, LIX..., truly enigmatic, is written in Roman numerals and represents the age of the composer at the time of the musical gestation of this piece: 59 years old. The work is not descriptive in nature, but perhaps certain episodes in the composer's mind that occurred during the course of his life are reflected in the musical composition. His language is atonal but, as is usual in his creations, he tries to get closer to the listener in order to establish a good communication with him.
