It corresponds to the second piece of the piano suite called American Souvenir, which Juli Pons premiered in 1929. Blancafort only finished two of the three pieces that made up that suite, which have finally been edited separately.
This edition of Homage to Chaplin is reviewed by the pianist Antoni Besses.
- Liner on sea. Unfinished piece, is not edited.
- Homage to Chaplin (Hommage to Chaplin). (B.3109)
- Intermittent tune (Discontinuous melody). (B.3110)
«[...] In the last two books mentioned (American souvenir = Liner on sea, Homage to Chaplin), the author lets himself be carried away by current taste and mixes unusual detail and even plebeian laughter and sobs with his rêverie delicate and worldly artist. Jazz music. Black music. Sadness of the organs of the carousels and the claims of the traveling circus barracks. Naive toccates of popular fanfare. Rhythms of the instinctive being. Primary expressions of expression that have moved the composer's fine sensitivity»
