For flute, guitar and percussion in the form of «darbuka» bongos, which are goblet-shaped rudimentary Arabic kettledrums that are held under one’s arm. It was commissioned in 1998 by mezzo-soprano Anna Ricci, to whom the piece is dedicated, to form part of a programme of Sephardic vocal music in which she wanted to include a purely instrumental interlude. According to the composer himself: «I have composed this short dance with the bustling atmosphere of the Eastern Mediterranean in mind. It is a vigorous movement that is characterised by the continuous meanderings of the flute line above the persistent rhythm of the percussion. The guitar adds colour and richness to it. The title was suggested to me by Jaime Vándor».
