This work was written in 2004 to celebrate the centenary of Salvador Dalí's birth. In fact, the idea of writing a composition dedicated to the brilliant painter from Empordà came from the performers, Mireia Fornells and Joan Miquel Hernández. They had already suggested to me the possibility of my writing a work dedicated to another painter (they had previously premiered the Structures dedicated to Kandinsky, Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg) and that on this occasion the painter would be Salvador Dalí. The fact is that I loved the idea. The score consists of a series of themes (independent images linked together, as in the painter's paintings) which, without development, follow one after the other. In fact, it is a kind of collage or thematic sampler in which we can hear clear allusions to Catalan popular music, since, as everyone knows, Dalí is Catalan. The work was premiered at the Conservatori del Liceu. At the same concert, the above-mentioned Three Structures, also published by the same publisher, were performed.
