This type of pieces traditionally combine a slow movement with a faster one. In this case, the slow has a connotation of lightness, with some dynamism. Its shape is similar to that of an arch: music is born and ends in silence.
The Allegro con brio, however, is fierce, fast and energetic. It is very important that your interpretation gives a global feeling of agility. The whole movement is based on a small motive of two measures of duration, which is developed and passed from one instrument to another during the rest of the piece.
I. Adagio (2:00) II. Allegro con brio (11:35)
