The peculiar harmonization of the theme of this gull by G. Tarragó has modern features that separate it from the strictly baroque aesthetic to which its title refers us. This fact has allowed me to pass the 20 variations through polyphonic fabrics with very varied constructive approaches that, despite being governed by morphological norms of different nature, I have linked with the intention of achieving a logical and coherent discourse.
The peculiarity of these variations is in the fact that they are grouped into three different blocks that make up what would be the three times in a sonata.
G. Tarragó is one of the most important guitar composers of the 20th century. He expanded the guitar repertoire with an extensive and important collection of original and popularly inspired concert works and his teaching work prompted him to also write studies in which to perfectly combine the development of mechanical formulas with the interest of musical discourse. With the variations on this gull (Concert Study No. 9. G. Tarragó's guitar work, Boileau-UME edition. 2009) I want to pay tribute to him, while I thank him for laying the foundation for my dedication to music and to the guitar.
