After the presentation of a Jewish-Polish theme, evocative and catchy, the composer has produced six variations, and each one shows a specific aspect of the violin technique. Cervelló had no compunction about producing an elemental piece of tonal character and scholastic sequencing (as befits the nature of the piece) and somehow has retained the basic structure of the theme throughout all variations, reserving the item more imaginative to the purely instrumental. The work appears to be a conscious homage to instrumental literature that is due to the great violinist-composers of the past. Musical repertoire for concert, for chamber music or for the formation of violinists, without this undermines its obvious charm apart from any consideration of aesthetic character.
The work is dedicated to Jesús Ángel Garcia.
