We have in these volumes the four series of Cançons Infantils, short compositions that have enjoyed from the first moment a wide popularity within the vocal production of Narcisa Freixas. Of all the composer's legacy, these works have been the ones that have lasted the longest and some of them have become authentic popular songs, so they have been transmitted orally from generation to generation.

Eminently considered a composer of children's songs and pedagogue, in the words of one of her teachers, Felipe Pedrell, Narcisa was "the queen of children's songs and the elementary education of music." Enric Morera said: "Simple harmonies like the hearts of little ones. When they are older, they will thank us for having taught them to love our land. "

The first series of Cançons Infantils was awarded at the Festa de la Música Catalana in 1905, organized by the Orfeó Català. It was translated into Spanish and French and up to twelve editions were made. The second series was awarded at the Jocs Florals de Girona in 1908. It was also translated into Spanish and twelve editions were made. The third and fourth series as they were published posthumously, even so, we have news that the edition was already in preparation in years before his death, in 1926.

As a result of the diffusion of the composer's pedagogical work, the Ministry of Public Instruction asked her to do a musical pedagogy course in Madrid in 1917, in which she worked with students from 9 schools and had a broad resonance in the press. On April 15, 1919, the Ministry of Public Instruction declared the Children's Songs useful for teaching, for "its melodic purity, its simplicity and its educational value".
